Meet the Breeder

Hello!

 I’m Michelle Schroff, owner/breeder with Desert Sage Doodles. I am married to the best husband and dad, to our kids and dogs (: for the last 28 years. Clay has recently retired, from the car business after a 30 year career, to join me at home raising doodles and kids. We have 10 children and 6 grandchildren. We homeschool 5 of our children. We have a non-profit (Aspen Project) that works locally and internationally to come alongside of families affected by poverty by providing parenting classes, mentorship, and resources to break the cycle of poverty. We have an exciting household, to say the least.

 I have been in the “doodle” business for 3 years. My first doodle, Maverick, was a re-home from a local breeder. He was massive, a true gentle giant at 85#. I must say he was our “trick” doodle. As with most doodles, he was snuggly, intelligent, empathetic, energetic, and hypoallergenic! I believed that Maverick and my soul were knitted together, he knew me. I lost my father during COVID and Maverick has been my constant companion through this difficult season.

 I started researching doodles. The articles were endless. I had the craziest thought during this process, “What if I bred doodles? Not just doodles, but doodles that had a guarantee that they would not end up in a shelter. Doodles that had been cleared through health testing, so no one has to guess what breed or if the dog had a genetic disorder. What if I bred doodles that could successfully transition in to a family confidently?” These were a few of my desires when laying the foundations of Desert Sage Doodles.

 Over the last 3 years I have meticulously created an environment for our dogs to integrate in to our family so that they can do the same with yours. I have put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in to creating an environment that provides dignity and beauty for our dogs and the families that are looking in to being a forever family. It has cost our family a lot to create Desert Sage Doodles and I hope it shows in the quality of puppies we produce.
